SAFIMI: Georgian Society Against FIMI, disinformation, and coordinated inauthentic behaviour

Donor: The European Union

Budget: 357.113,73 EUR

Duration: January 2025 - June 2027

The European Union, through the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI) – Global Europe program, is supporting "SAFIMI: Georgian Society Against FIMI, disinformation and coordinated inauthentic behaviour," a new initiative aimed at strengthening Georgia's societal response to and protection against disinformation and foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI).

Led by Maldita.es Foundation, in partnership with Media Development Foundation (Georgia), Transparency International Georgia, and the Transatlantic Foundation (Belgium), SAFIMI will foster multi-sectoral collaboration and enhance societal resilience to safeguard Georgia’s information space.

Over the 30-month duration of the project, from January 2025 to June 2027, SAFIMI aims to engage over 500 participants through training sessions, interactive forums, and strategic events, cultivating an active community of informed actors. Furthermore, the project partners will develop essential resources, including continuous monitoring and analysis, and a specialized resource toolkit designed to boost information integrity throughout Georgia. Additionally, the project will support a number of initiatives, such as the production of media content in multiple languages.
