Survey on Media Consumption and Disinformation in Georgia
The aim of the study is to examine the main habits and attitudes related to media consumption among Georgian citizens. In addition, the research sought to assess citizens’ media literacy skills and identify key trends related to the spread of disinformation.
To achieve this, CRRC-Georgia conducted a mixed-methods study commissioned by the Media Development Foundation (MDF) in May 2025. The research included a telephone survey of the Georgian-speaking population and five focus groups.
The report presents frequencies and crosstab analysis of the telephone survey results, as well as main trends identified in the focus groups. The report includes the following sections: key habits related to media consumption, attitudes toward disinformation, media literacy skills, and perceptions of foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI).
This Survey Result Publication has been developed as part of the EU Co-funded initiative "SAFIMI Georgia: Georgian Society Against FIMI, Disinformation and Coordinated Inauthentic Behaviour”. SAFIMI Georgia is led by Maldita.es Foundation (Spain), in partnership with Media Development Foundation (Georgia), Transparency International Georgia, and the Transatlantic Foundation (Belgium). It sets out to build societal resilience in Georgia to mis/disinformation, FIMI and coordinated inauthentic behaviour (CIB) by strengthening multi-stakeholder and cross-sectoral understanding, awareness and responses.
